Ebay & 12 Month Warranties Iphone 7 12 Month Warranty
Question:
Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a new Macbook Pro on Ebay. Some sellers are offering products with a '12 Month Manufacturer's Warranty'. I was wondering if such warranties are really possible from an Ebay seller, or is it a scam?
I'm imagining that 12 Month Warranties start from the date of purchase - but the question is, which purchase: from the date I bought from Ebay, or the date the Ebay seller bought from Apple.
If it's the date the Ebay seller bought from Apple, then their claim that they are selling with a 12 month warranty is false - it's really 12 months less the time taken for them to sell it on. If it's the date I buy from Ebay, then, unless the Ebay seller is a registered Apple reseller, how is the start of the warranty registered with Apple?
I sent a message to a few of the sellers asking these questions and none gave an really satisfatory answer. None of them claimed to be an authorised Apple reseller, and they generally said go to and register your product with the serial number.
But is registering your product the the same as activating the start date of the warranty?
Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Damian.

Answer:
Warranty starts date the computer is purchased. If the seller is not an authorized reseller, the warranty started the date they purchased the computer. Warranty is tied to the device, not individual. Registration has nothing to do with warranty status.
