"Excellent fair and balanced documentary on what is going on in South Africa" - by Gregory Smith

The 1 star review comes from one of those liberals who can't believe that blacks can be racist. The documentary is fair, it shows BOTH sides of the story. What happened before, what's happening now. It's now a defense of apartheid, it's not pro-white, just pro-reality. There are whites who have been fired from their jobs because companies in South Africa are punished with huge fines (10% of turnover) and even 10-years in prison if they don't hire enough non-white personnel.

It's affirmative action on steroids, and a warning to America of the dangers of the diversity cult.

Nice documentary

"Implausible but compelling Fiction" - by Dr CHUANG Wei Ping (Singapore)

One reviewer on Amazon of the printed book said he found a copy thrown away on the roadside. He picked it up and read it. Amusingly, he said that after reading it, decided to dispose of "Disgrace" properly this time: by tearing it up and putting it into the proper place - a trash bin.

$30 (price on Amazon at the time of this review) is a costly gamble, even for an exotic art house Blu-ray. In contrast, a wildly more entertaining Blu-ray package, like the entire season 1 of Spartacus: Blood and Sand in Blu-ray costs only marginally more at $35. I mentioned Spartacus because I had a hard time deciding which fictional story was harder to believe: Disgrace or Spartacus.

For scenic beauty of rural South Africa in Blu-ray, Disgrace is worth the money. In time to come, such scenes would need help from CGI. ...

"Awesome, funny" - by Lloyd De Jongh (Dubai)

Awesome, funny, informative and exciting, with breathtaking views of South Africa. I watched all the episodes in a couple of days, they're that good!

"Truly Remarkable Woman" - by CatSttl (Seattle, WA USA)

When I saw the description, I had to watch. How could she survive such a horrific attack? Why does someone do this to another human being? Truly remarkable spirit and will to live, remarkable team of medical professionals. Truly a miracle. Very moving and inspirational story. To the men that perpetrated the attack, they should never be free. They also shouldn't be allowed access to the internet.

Great

"Incredible shots you have not seen before." - by KB

Beauty told in 3 chapters, the Cape, the Subtropical Coast, and the Desert interior. South Africa is a wildly diverse nation with an equally diverse natural world. The Cape Coast, with the Fynbos floral kingdom, is unlike any other place on Earth, with plants seen nowhere else, influenced by the collision of the Benguela and Agulhas currents. The Eastern coast, wet with the humid winds from the Indian Ocean, supports a diverse wetland world of elephant and forest. The arid interior from the Great Karoo to the Kalahari Desert, shows the real quality of South Africa. Nothing should live here, so hostile is the environment. And the desert has frogs. And wildflowers. And antelope to the horizon. Everything finds a way here, and the more unforgiving the terrain, the greater the riot of diversity.

TLOH finds new way to show what many documentaries already have, with many shots never before captured. ...

"Africa desperately needs more passionate, dedicated doctors." - by Amazon Customer

Anyone that has ever described a doctor as having a "god-complex" should watch this documentary. The work these doctors do, under the circumstances they function in, is remarkable and worthy of great recognition and appreciation. This documentary also gives a very sharp insight into the lives of people in rural towns, where alcohol and physical abuse are a normal way of life. I enjoyed seeing the administrative part of the doctor's day in the scene where the negotiation for the blood was shown. Effective administrators have a very important role to play in creating the environment for doctors to flourish in.

The footage is gripping and the events of the 30 hour call are very well put together.
