Use Dual SIM Devices

Use Dual SIM Devices

A dual SIM phone is a single device that can have up to 2 active numbers, plans, or accounts. You enjoy all of this convenience on 1 device because it has 2 separate SIMs:

  • A physical SIM: A plastic card inserted into your phone.
  • An eSIM: A digital SIM activated through the network.

Good to know: Some dual SIM devices are actually Dual SIM, Dual Standby (DSDS) devices where both SIMs can be active at the same time.

Ready to activate?

Texting

You’ll have to choose which number you want to use before sending a text, picture, or video message. But, you can get messages from either number at anytime.

Using data

With some devices, you may have to toggle between default services. But other devices may offer an option to switch based on the SIM used for active calls. You can find this option in your device settings.

Connected to Wi-Fi®? Your device will use it for both numbers (even if you’re on a call).

Calling

Making a call? Choose the number you want to use before you call or allow the phone to default to the last number used. You can put a call on hold for one number and place a call from the other – all on one device.

Already on a call? You’ll get a notification for incoming calls on the number you’re using. Plus, incoming calls will ring on your second line.

Heads up: Have FirstNet®? You can buy dual SIM devices, but if you activate the second SIM, it may interfere with FirstNet connectivity in some instances.
